How do I obtain a BusinessLicense/Occupational Tax Certificate?
The City of Auburn collects yearly Occupational Taxes from each business located within the city limits. A business must possess an Occupational License to run any business within the city. You may visit City Hall, call 770-963-4002 ext 206 or visit the Planning Department page on this website.

Which fire department services the Auburn area?
There is one Fire/REscue office in Auburn. This office is part of the County's Fire Department and responds to all Fire and EMT emergencies in Auburn. Auburn Fire Department is located at 1335 4th Avenue, on the corner of 4th Ave and County-Line Auburn Rd. Their number is 770-995-1654.

How do I obtain a burn permit?
You may call Georgia Forestry at 770-868-4041 or visit their website at www.gfc.state.ga.us. Georgia Forestry will not issueburn permits during ayearly burn ban that goes into effect from May 1st through September 30 each year, nor will they issue permits due to special conditions(i.e., droughts, wildfire conditions, etc...)

Can I remain anonymous when reporting a Code Enforcement Violation?
Yes. We do not require that you provide any personal information when registering your complaint. Remember that all information you choose to provide to the City, including names, phone numbers, or email addresses, is subject to the Public Record Laws. In other words, we must provide this information to anyone who asks for it. If you wish to remain completely anonymous, do not provide your personal information.

The violator and/or property owner may have up to 10 days to correct the violation or to appeal the notice. Dangerous situations must be remedied Immediately.

Why should I be responsible for upkeep at my property? My tenant is responsible for the problems.
Property owners are ultimately responsible for all repairs and upkeep to their properties.

City of Auburn electrions are held in November on odd-numbered years.

When are Council meetings held?
Meetings are held the first and third Thursday of every month and are posted four business days before. Special meetings are posted, by law, 24 hours in advance.

This service is currently unavailable online. Packets can be picked up on Monday of the week the meeting is being held.

How can I pay my fine?
Mail in check or money order to: Court Clerk, P.O. Box 1059, Auburn, GA 30011. You may also pay in person using cash or money order. The courthouse does not accept personal checks. Some fines are able to be paid online. Please visit the municipal courts page on this website.

What happens if I miss a court date?
Missing a court date has serious consequences. Defendants who do not appear for court and who have not arranged for a continuance may have a bench warrant issued for their arrest and have their driver's license suspended by the Georgia Department of Driver SErvices (DDS). Additional fines will also be imposed. YOU MUST RESCHEDULE YOUR COURT DATE AT LEAST 48 HOURS PRIOR TP THE SCHEDULED DATE.

Stormwater Management

What is the purpose of Stormwater Management?
The Stormwater Department has been developed in accordance to Phase II of the U.S. EPA Clean Water Act of 1987 amendment. The U.S. EPA developed amendments to the CLean Water Act of 1987 and implemented these amendments in two phases, This amendment addresses sources of stormwater in small to large municipal storm sewer systems and construction sites disturbing one or more acres. Industrial activities are included in Phase I.

What is stormwater?
Stormwater is the runoff from land and impervious areas such as paved streets, parkinglots, and building rooftops during rainfall events. It often contains pollutants such as nutrients, bacteria, sediment, and metals that could adversely affect water quality.
3.
What should I do if I witness someone dumping waste by, or near, any river, creek, or other body of water?
Please contact City Hall during regular opearating hours, at 770-963-4002 ext 207. If this is occuring after hours or on the weekend, contact the Auburn Police Department at 770-513-8657.
